Please be on time to registration. If you're not in line until after 9:30,
you will get a 1 minute penalty for each minute you are late. It's really
important that everyone is on time so that registration can get finished
and we can be ready for results. If you're late, it holds up the entire race.
Race briefing is mandatory. We have asked the water officials to keep track of any boats that are in the water during the race briefing, and you will be DQ'd if you are. We really hate having to DQ people or give out penalties, so please remember to be on time to registration and to attend the race briefing!
Serving delicious fresh poke and plate lunches, Danny's Poke Truck is
located across from Costco on Haleakala Hwy.
To quote Sunset Magazine: \"Just five minutes from the airport, in a warehouse
parking lot where tourists would never go, is some of the island's best poke. Danny
Kalahiki mixes it to order in his vintage-style quilted-steel lunch wagon.
Must-have: the ahi shoyu wasabi poke. The marinade is a perfect balance of salty, sweet,
spicy, and umami.\"

Cutoff time
There will be a cutoff time for this race. Cutoff time 4:30 for long course. This
is for safety so that our safety boats aren't as spread out, so we can't just say
that you can do it and pull out if you're still far away from the finish.
It is also important for safety that we can get
an accurate count more quickly at the end of the race to ensure that everyone is safely
back to shore.
Experience Required
This is an open ocean race, participants must have open ocean experience. There will
be a section on the entry form for you to describe your open ocean experience on
OC-1/OC-2/SS/SUP. If you do not have sufficient open ocean experience, you may
be required to have an escort boat, or your entry may not be approved. Your entry
fee will be refunded if denied. Feel free to email us if you're not sure.
SUPs: For long course, you must pre-qualify by having done M2M or NSC in under 4:30 and getting
pre-approval from us before registering.
Registration
Pre-registration is required! There is no morning-of registration for this race.
You can register online until midnight, Thursday March 30st. If you are
Paypal-phobic, you can mail a check to our registration team
(address on registration page, not the same as the general address).
Anything sent through the mail must be received by March 28.
We will also be having in person pre-registration event on Thursday, March 30st
4:30-6:30pm, at Hawaiian Canoe Club's hale.
Also, Juniors must have a paper waiver signed by their parent or guardian.
Jerseys
You must wear a bright, visible jersey. This
is for safety, and there are no exceptions. No nudge nudge, wink wink like in
some previous years, we have to be
strict on this. Failure to wear a bright visible jersey for the entire duration of
the race will result in a DQ and no time. Whether or not a jersey qualifies
as bright and visible is at the sole discretion of the Race Director. If in
doubt, find the most obnoxiously bright jersey you can get your hands on.

In order to race without an escort boat, pre-qualification
is required before registering. You can pre-qualify in one of 2 ways:
1. Email us to get pre-approved based on your experience. Describe your experience
and include the biggest races are that you've done and your times,
and if possible contact info on your coach for a reference.
2. Completed one of the following races iron (not relay), within the
specified time. OC-6 doesn’t count. Note that if you've done these
races in longer than the specified time this does not necessarily disqualify
you, you'll just need to get pre-approval as in #1 above.
-M2M in under 3:45
-North Shore Challenge - Keanae in under 3:45
-North Shore Challenge - Kahakuloa in under 4:15
-Kaiwi Solo in under 5:40
If you do not pre-qualify to race without an escort boat, you can still race with an
escort boat as long as your experience shows you are likely able to complete the race in
under the cutoff time of 4:30 in typical Pailolo conditions. The cutoff time is important
for safety so that our safety boats don’t get too spread out.
Registration
Pre-registration is required! There is no morning-of registration for this race.
You can register online, or
we also plan on having in person pre-registration event, most likely the week before.
Juniors must have a paper waiver signed by their parent or guardian.
Experience & Cutoff time
This race is for experienced paddlers only. The cutoff time is 4 hours
and 30 minutes, so if you believe, or in our judgement from reviewing past race results
that you may not be able to make it close to 4:30, you may not be able to race, or you
may be required to have your own escort boat (not jetski). This
is for safety so that our safety boats aren't too spread out, so we can't just say
that you can do it and pull out if you're still far away from the finish.
It is also important for safety that we can get
an accurate count more quickly at the end of the race to ensure that everyone is in.
Jerseys
You must wear the official Maui to Moloka'i Jersey (included in registration). This
is for safety, and there are no exceptions. No nudge nudge, wink wink like in
some previous years, we have to be
strict on this. Failure to wear the jersey for the entire duration of
the race will result in a DQ and no time. We did our best to order enough of
each size to accommodate everybody, however, sizes will be given in the order
that you register, so register early to ensure you get the size you want!
This is an open ocean race, participants must have open ocean experience. There will be a section on the entry form for you to describe your open ocean experience on OC-1/OC-2/SS. If you do not have sufficient open ocean experience, you may be required to have an escort boat, or your entry may not be approved.
Race Finish:
These results are based on the times/order that paddlers crossed the finish line. Due to adverse conditions, many paddlers turned around early for their own safety, so some paddlers covered a lot more distance than others.
